Face to Face

installation, 2009

The object, the automated table–altar is designed for creating portraits. The screen functions as an electronic mirror. In front of a person who sits at the table, their portrait appears on the screen. The picture is created by transmitting and putting together images from two cameras simultaneously. You can modulate the image on your own by moving the cameras. The situation I created led to the production of self-portraits created by the exhibition public. The self-portraits gradually filled the gallery walls.

Documentation of an exhibition. Two large-scale images of the installation’s draped table hang on the wall. Between them, a series of smaller framed images is arranged in a grid. They depict blue shapes against a white background.
