Eine Illustrierte Weltgeschichte

I have been interested in the issue of multiplicity for some time. Its omnipresence in nature in the form of excess and hypertrophy is fundamental for directed development. Modern means of imaging generate unprecedented multiplicity. The hyperproduction of images has created conditions conducive to the emergence of new „genres”, generating their quantities on an unprecedented scale. The object was created as an intuitive approximation of two representations of multiplicity. A photograph of a lichen colony (vesicle kestrel) was „populated” with facial images taken from the book Spamer’s Illustrierte Weltgeschichte (Otto Spamer publishing house, Leipzig 1902). The collage was placed in an isolated, quasi-laboratory environment to emphasize the nature of the observed phenomenon, its indicative (similar to lichen) and prognostic (similar to history) role.
